Karachi —At least seven people were killed and several injured in different incidents of firing that triggered panic in Qasba Colony and Bukhari Colony on Monday.
Sindh Inspector General Police Wajid Ali Durrani has suspended seven SPs and seven SHOs of the city on Monday. Police officials of Gadap, Jamshed Quarter, Mehmoodabad, Garden, Saddar and others areas were suspended for unsatisfactory performances.
Some unknown persons shot dead a man in Kharadar area of Karachi . The dead man could not be identified. In another incident, Ijaz Baloch was killed resisting robbery attempt in Lyari Chakiwara. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital. According to MLO Dr Aftab, a bullet was shot in the head of the deceased.
Meanwhile, police said that a 38-years-old Rafique was shot dead near Chowrangi in Gulbahar. Police shifted the dead body to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for postmortem. Two persons were also shot dead by some unidentified people in Graveyard No 7 in Baldia Town . According to eye witnesses, fire shots were heard after a van entered the graveyard. Afterwards, two dead bodies were found there which could not be identified. Moreover, Saifullah and Salman were shot dead by some unknown people in near Abu Zar Mosque, Block Q in North Nazimabad . 7 persons were injured during various incidents of firing in areas of Qaidabad, Orangi Town , Landhi, and Lyari.
Some unidentified miscreants opened indiscriminate fire in Shershah Kabari (scrap) Market Monday, resulting in rampant chaos and closure of the market. The shopkeepers hurriedly pulled shutters of their shops down.
It may be mentioned here that police posts erected at the market were deserted on the occasion with no single police seen around. Traders and shopkeepers were seen panicked. They said it was due to the negligence of police that miscreants had opportunity to enter the market and create panic here.
Earlier, on Sunday, after half hour long encounter, police arrested two injured robbers from an area near Abul Hassan Isphani Road in the metropolis. According to details, a couple of armed robbers entered in a barber shop on Abul Hassan Road and attempted to rob the shop. While robbers were busy in robbing, suddenly Mobina Town Police Station’s police party arrived on the scene. The robbers opened fire on the police party and tried to flee.
The police started retaliatory firing and constantly kept the robbers engaged for half an hour. Finally, the police succeeded to arrest two robbers, Safar Jamali and Zeeshan, and recover weapons and some snatched mobile phones from their custody. A policeman Yasin also sustained injuries in the armed clash with the robbers. Police have also arrested 21 political workers of ANP and MQM in connection with criminal offences including target killings. In Landhi and Korangi policelaunched a crackdown and arrested 21 criminal offenders. Saleem, Zahid, Raheem Ullah, Akhtar, Shahid TT, Sajid Kala and Akbar were arrested from Korangi sector. According to police they belong to MQM. In another action, police arrested five alleged criminal offenders Usman, Fayaz, Aslam, Khalid, Habib Allah, Ali Rehman, Mehrk Shah, Zaheer Khan, Abdul Moeen Shah.
